Thats my girl all dressed up for her fieldtrip to the SF symphony. Looking way to grown up for her mamma not to get a little teary eyed but beautiful nonetheless. She got to wear a velvet cape that my mom bought before she was married so Lydia was completely thrilled to say the least. "So special Mom" she said and off we were to San Fran. Couldn't have picked a more gorgeous day-clear skies, suny 68 degrees with a light wind. Had the pleasure of riding with Andrea, one of Lydia's new classmates mother who drove us and 4 kids over the bridge and through no woods...
everyone seemed to have to go to the bathroom before we even entered the hall so i got some of the kids to pose against the wall for an impromptu pic-not an easy feat even for 5th graders!
waiting in our seats for the time to pass
the incredible pipe organ pipes, some as thick as the largest tree trunk
glad i took some pics while the orchestra was warming up since we weren't allowed to take any during the performance
all in black-i was loving the many patent leather black shoes that were worn by many musicians. yes, i was checking out the shoes (of course) it was the 100th year since formation of this symphony-pretty cool
amazing cant quite describe the talented men & women that we had the pleasure to listen to that day. I didn't realize that there was only school students in attendance. what a great idea! The conductor played up to the kids with humor, education and fun with instruments. the boy crowd went nuts when the french horn was introduced and the musician played some music from Star Wars. i cant believe with as much as my world revovles around music that i have never been to the symphony. so many wonderful emotions evoked in me. i felt giddy as a child on Christmas morning! definately a trip that i will take again very soon
lydia figured out that the hall was built in 1912-neato labido
we realized that the SF ballet where we saw the Nutcracker a few years ago was right across the street and also flanking the park where we ate lunch. gorgeous architecture in the city that i dont quite get to see as often anymore
